Dr. D. Gary Young, founder of Young Living essential oils was a master teacher, author, healer, researcher, formulator, nutritionist, international diplomat, and known for his ambitious spirit.
He had a passion for discovery and wellness that brought him to distant corners of the world—from lavender fields in southern France to desert ruins in Yemen to rainforests in Ecuador. Gary had one primary focus: Uncover all he could about essential oils in healing humanity’s ills. He made it his life’s work.
He learned about the wellness potential of essential oils, ancient and modern distillation methods, and the history of essential oils, woven throughout the stories of ancient civilizations.
He also discovered that he needed to work with oils of the highest purity and potency, so he established a set of standards, on his privately owned farms, that later became the Science pillar of our Seed to Seal quality commitment in the world. The discovery of the benefits of essential oils (beyond aromatherapy) are vast and powerful: from healing for sports, dancing and athletic training, injuries, stamina, mental health, energy, colds & flus, eczema, skin care, beauty and much more.
As a visionary, Gary had the foresight to see that the coming times would present many, dire challenges to humanity’s health and freedoms which the world has seen over the last 2 years. His 13 books and 14 research papers on essential oil therapies for health, viruses, microbes, pain reduction, and longevity, have sold worldwide. His nutritional products and often, life-giving essential oils are distributed in over 150 countries today. Young Living is the world leader in the growing of aromatic plants, shrubs, bushes, flowers and trees for the distillation of essential oils.
Gary and his wife, Mary, established their first lavender farm in St. Marie’s, Idaho and founded Young Living Essential Oils, back in 1994. They built Young Living Company, today known as the pioneer and standard bearer of the modern essential oils’ movement—one that has enhanced and empowered lives around the world by sharing the benefits of essential oils.
Gary left humanity a tremendous, powerful legacy in 2018: his company is now headed by his endearing wife, Mary, as CEO of Young Living. Mary Young in collaboration with the Vancliffen Arts Foundation, has established a perpetual memorial scholarship fund in order to help provide a higher professional education tho those students between the ages for 14- 22 who are striving toward a professional career.
